*Updated* Avery is a 17-month-old black lab, intact female narcotics detection dog. She is imprinted on PCP, Cocaine, Heroin, LSD, Methamphetamine, and MDMA. She has started detection training in vehicles, interior rooms, luggage, and large retail stores (i.e., Lowe’s, Big R, O’Reilly Auto Parts, etc.), and will work on or off lead. She has an extremely high hunt drive, high prey drive, a good sit, and a recall. Her hunt drive is much higher than her ball drive so she is not always possessive of her reward, but is eager to get back to work. She will not stop hunting until she finds the odor, her reward, or is given another task. Avery has been a kennel dog but has been introduced to being in a house. She is not house trained and is very excitable so a good introduction would be necessary. Avery is friendly with children and other dogs; and has been exposed to horses, cats, and chickens. She is a very fast worker and loves to please. She is the epitome of the adage “it runs down lead.” She requires excitement and positivity from her handler to reach her full potential. Avery would do well with either an experienced handler or a new handler with a strong aptitude.

She has not been trained with negative reinforcement, compulsion, or corrections. Obedience is limited in order to provide a more green dog for your training program. Avery is marker trained (clicker).
